Scuba Diving Holiday in
La Azohia
La Azohia
There are three diving clubs in the village of La Azohia,
which is a fair indication that there are things to
be seen below the surface of the water! As the sea temperature
remains above 17C all year round, diving here is also
all year round, although the best time for scuba is
May - September. There are very few currents in the
area which makes for safer diving.
Rivemar
have an excellent site in Spanish with details of the
various diving locations (immersiones) available. They
also have some great aerial
photos of the village.
Antipodas
Buceo is another scuba diving club based in the
village. They also run the bar at the far end of the
bay near the tower of St Elena, which is a great place
to relax and soak up the last of the sun's rays as you
watch it set across the water towards Mazarron. No visit
to La Azohia is complete without enjoying some of their
tapas and a cold beer.
Urban
scuba is a company based in England which organises
scuba diving holidays to La Azohia in partnership with
Rivemar. Their website provides information about many
of the diving locations around the area.
Puerto de Mazarrón
There are more diving clubs here.
Cabo de Palos
There is great diving here, about 35 minutes’
drive from La Azohia, as there are some islands that
have caused many ships to be shipwrecked and these can
be seen in the water. This is for advanced divers only
as there are strong currents. The area has been covered
in the April 2003 edition of Divernet.
Planeta
Azul have a great website, and also arrange other
sporting activities, also for children and families.
