A Euro 4 million scheme to expand the leisure harbour
in Puerto de Mazarron has been given the green light
by Murcia's regional government. The project is set
to include the enlargement of the dock and the installation
of 46 new moorings. Service station areas for boats
as well as chandlery facilities will be built along
the seafront. A new underground car park will have 354
spaces that will help to resolve the current traffic
problems in the port area.

Costa Calida - an up and coming area. The Costa Calida,
literally meaning the Warm Coast, encompasses the shoreline
running from La Azohia to the east down to Bolnuevo
to the West. In between these two small seaside villages
is Puerto de Mazarron. The area is situated only a 45
minute drive from Murcia (San Javier) airport, and 1
hour 30minutes from Alicante airport. The Mazarron coastal
area has a lot to offer - natural beaches, many of them
boasting Blue Flag accreditation, the water is clean
and the description 'aqua-blue' could easily have been
invented to describe the colour of the sea in summer
here. The coastal area is enclosed by several mountain
ranges and by the Sierra Espuna further north, giving
Mazarron its idyllic micro-climate. This up and coming
region is seen by many as the next growth area of Spain.
Property in the area is widely available and there has
been a lot of development over the past few years. Blue
Flag beaches, traditional cuisine, great prices and
an overall Spanish feel to the area make this a more
and more interesting place to invest in. Prices have
been increasing steadily, and in some cases rapidly,
over recent years. In general, though, the Costa Calida
is still a 'good find', but don't wait too long to discover
more of the Costa Calida, the Warm Coast.

The Mayor of Mazarron has great ideas to boost Mazarron
and Puerto Mazarron, areas that are very popular with
foreign residents of the Costa Calida. And he has the
money to put his plans into action. Mayor Francisco
Blaya told Round Town News in an exclusive interview
about the big things that are already happening. No
less than 21 million Euros has been obtained to make
improvements that will transform the area. The money
is made up of a mixture of national, regional and EU
sources. more
